The LinkingCommunities web application, AlertCentral, allows citizens to search, post and register for crime alerts by zip code, city, county or even state wide. Each citizen manages his/her own information (how they want to receive the alerts, types of alerts and frequency) all from one central place. When a citizen, business, or school posts an alert, it is sent to the crime prevention officer (or any other designated person(s) in that locality for approval. Once approved, the alert is posted on the Alert Map for searching and reporting. The alert is also sent to all subscribers via email.
